Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing on 1/31/24

This email is to tell you about the planned Senate Judiciary Hearing on January 31, 2024
at 10:00 AM. The witnesses will include the CEOs of Meta, Discord, Snapchat, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter), who will be asked to answer for the lack of safeguards for children on their platforms.

The hearing will specifically focus on the package of online child protection legislation marked up in the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2023, including the
STOP CSAM Act (S.1199),
EARN IT Act (S.1207), and
SHIELD Act (S.412)

Snapchat has agreed to support the KOSA bill, thus being the first of the social media corporations to do so. That’s progress!
